Due to the merger of banks, due to changes in the account numbers, IFSC and MICR code of the account holders, from October 1, 2021, the banking system will reject the old checks.

From October 1, Allahabad Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce (OBC) and United Bank of India ( United Bank of India) checkbook and MICR code are going to be invalid.
Oriental Bank of Commerce (OBC) and United Bank of India were merged into Punjab National Bank (PNB), with effect from 1 April 2019.

It is worth noting that the customers have been alerted that the MICR codes and checkbooks of these three banks are valid only till 30 September 2021. In such a situation, to continue banking transactions without any interruption, the customer should take a new check book before 1 October 2021. The customer can collect the new check book from the nearest branch. Apart from this, customers can also apply through Internet Banking (Internet Banking / Online Banking) or Mobile Banking. PNB customers can apply through ATM, Internet Banking or PNB One.
