The greatest danger to the earth is told from Bennu itself. It is believed that in the year 2135 it will come very close to the earth.
- Data from the OSIRIS-REx spacecraft found that it is likely to collide by the year 2300.
- Its most accurate date is September 24, 2182.
- Scientists can know its path by the year 2135.
Washington: The American space agency NASA has expressed the possibility of a very huge asteroid hitting the Earth. The name of this asteroid is Bennu, whose size is being told as big as the Empire State Building in New York.
- There is a possibility of collision between 2021 and 2300
NASA confirmed earlier this week that the asteroid Bennu is likely to hit Earth. Scientists also made it clear that there is nothing to worry about now because, there is still time for it.
According to the New York Times report, the probability of Bennu hitting the Earth between 2021 and 2300 is one in 1750. However, it is estimated that its effect will be very less. Asteroid (101955) Davide Farnocchia, author and scientist of the study ‘hazard assessment’ on Bennu, said that the probability of Bennu hitting the Earth is 0.037%.
Davide Farnocchia said, I am more concerned about Bennu than ever before. Although there is a possibility about its effect that it will not be much.
- OSIRIS-REx Data Based Study
This study is titled, ‘Ephemeris and hazard assessment for near-Earth asteroid (101955) Bennu’Â This study was done to monitor the trajectories of asteroids, which is based on OSIRIS-REx data. The US space agency NASA keeps an eye on asteroids that are likely to hit the Earth.
- date of collision
Data from the OSIRIS-REx spacecraft found that it is likely to collide by the year 2300. According to scientists, its most accurate date is September 24, 2182. Scientists can know its path by the year 2135 through NASA’s Deep Space Network and computer models
