New Delhi: German luxury car company BMW on Monday launched a fully electric SUV ‘iX’ in India. This model has got tremendous response in the country’s auto market. Despite the starting price of this e-car being Rs 1.16 crore, the first batch of this luxury model got sold out in India. Let us tell you that this vehicle is the first of the 3 electric vehicles that the company has planned to launch in the country within the next six months.

German luxury car company BMW issued a statement on Tuesday, saying that the first batch of its fully electric vehicle ‘IX’ was sold out on the very first day of its launch in the Indian market. BMW on Monday launched the Electric Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) ‘IX’ in India. That is, it is clear that in the first phase of booking this model, the car lovers of the country have showered a lot of love.
The statement said that the delivery of this vehicle will start from April 2022 and the booking of the second phase will be done in the first quarter of 2022.

The 71 kWh battery pack is available in the BMW iX xDrive 40 variant. This battery pack gives a maximum range of 414 km on a single charge (WLTP cycle). The dual motors output 322 BHP and 630 Nm. While the xDrive 50 variant uses a 105.2 kWh battery pack, which gives a maximum range of 611 km. This variant generates 516 BHP of power and 765 Nm of torque and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.6 seconds.

The BMW iX also gets the option of a fast charging system, which enables DC fast charging up to 195kW. With this, the battery of the xDrive 50 variant can be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 35 minutes. Whereas, the iX xDrive 40 takes just 31 minutes to charge from 10 percent to 80 percent using a DC charger.

The BMW iX has more interior space than the X7 due to its dedicated electric architecture. The iX gets a flat floor and a large interior with natural materials. Recyclable plastic has also been used for its seats including a new microfiber cloth.

BMW iX has created flags by passing the adult occupant protection test. These tests proved the effectiveness of the new interactive airbag between the driver and front passenger seats, providing additional protection against injury in the event of a side collision. Child Occupant Protection at the rear of the BMW IX has also been given the highest possible score for both frontal and side collisions.

The company said that it will also install fast chargers at all touch points across its dealer network in 35 cities in India.
