
Goods and Services Tax (GST) officials have busted 23 entities for generating fake invoices worth Rs 551 crore and giving forward input tax credit of Rs 91 crore wrongly. Acting on intelligence inputs, the Anti-Tax Wing of the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) Commissionerate, Delhi (West) has busted the case of forward payment of input tax credit of Rs 91 crore through forged bills, the Finance Ministry said in a statement.
The companies involved in the case include M/s Girdhar Enterprises, M/s Arun Sales, M/s Akshay Traders, M/s Shree Padmavati Enterprises besides 19 other entities. These 23 companies were formed to generate bills without sale of goods and pay ITC on further.
The ministry said that late Dinesh Gupta, Shubham Gupta, Vinod Jain and Yogesh Goyal were involved in the business of generating fake invoices. These accused have voluntarily accepted the guilt by giving their statements. The three accused were arrested on July 10 under Section 132 of the CGST Act and sent to judicial custody.
