
IPL Schedule Released: The datesheet i.e. schedule of the 16th season of IPL (IPL 2023) has been released. The first match of the upcoming season of this prestigious league will be played between the defending champion team Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings.
IPL 2023 Full Schedule: The schedule for the upcoming season of IPL (IPL-2023), the world’s richest cricket league, has been released. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released the schedule of the 16th season of this prestigious T20 league on the evening of 17 February. The first match of the season will be played on March 31, which will be between the defending champions Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings.
- Final match on 28 May
This time a total of 74 matches will be played in 12 stadiums across the country. This league will return to home-and-away format in India for the first time after 2019. It will happen after three years that the fans will see their favorite team playing on the home ground. The IPL will begin five days after the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) ends on March 26. The last match of the league stage will be played on May 21 while the final match will be played on May 28 at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad.
- Format will change after 3 years
The year 2019 was the last time the league was played in home-away format in India. In the year 2020, the tournament had to be postponed from the March-May window to September-November. Then due to the Covid-19 epidemic, it was forced to shift to UAE. In 2021, an attempt was made to play the season in the summer but it had to be stopped midway due to the violation of the bio-secure bubble. Then the second part of the season was done in UAE in September.
- 10 team tournament
Last year in 2022, this league was played in March-May window in India, but the entire league phase was organized in Mumbai and Pune only. The playoff and final matches were played in Kolkata and Ahmedabad. Gujarat Titans won the title last year in their debut season by defeating Rajasthan Royals in the final match played in Ahmedabad. Gujarat Titans performed amazingly under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya. The second team of the league was Lucknow Supergiants. The captaincy of Lucknow was handed over to KL Rahul. Now there are total 10 teams in the league.
