
Former UP Shia Waqf Board President Wasim Rizvi alias Jitendra Tyagi has been arrested by the Uttarakhand Police for making objectionable statements in the ‘Dharma Sansad’ held in Haridwar.
He was arrested on entering Haridwar from Roorkee’s Narsan border. After being taken into custody, he has been brought to Haridwar Kotwali.
Uttarakhand Police Spokesperson Senthil Avudai Krishnaraj S told BBC Hindi that the arrest of Jitendra Narayan Tyagi was confirmed in Haridwar.
He said that the details regarding this are still awaited. As soon as he gets more information, he will share.
In a video going on social media, Yeti Narasimhanand is saying that “Why are you arresting him alone, I am with him in all three cases.”

Waseem Rizvi, former chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Shia Waqf Board, had left Islam and converted to Sanatan Dharma on December 6 last year at the Dasna Devi temple in Ghaziabad.
Apart from making controversial statements in the Parliament of Religions, he has also been at the center of criticism for a book he has written. There have also been demonstrations in Uttarakhand demanding action against them.
After adopting Hinduism, he adopted the name Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi.
After duly accepting Sanatan Dharma after milking the Shivalinga in the temple, as well as Vedic chants and rituals, he said, “The name given to us by Yati Narasimhanand Giri, gave us energy. I am in the temple, we have got energy from the holy place of this temple.
