Chandigarh: The first meeting of the Central Election Committee (CEC) of the Congress was held in Punjab for the Legislative Assembly elections, in which the names of the candidates were discussed. Before the election committee meeting, several meetings of the screening committee of Punjab Congress have been held regarding the selection of the names of the candidates.

Congress has prepared the first list of candidates for the Punjab Legislative Assembly elections. According to sources, the names of 30 MLAs are included in the list, who will be given tickets, while the tickets of 17 MLAs are set to be cut. Sources said that the Congress will release the list of candidates for the Punjab Legislative Assembly elections in a day or two.

The Congress finalized the names of its candidates for the Punjab Legislative Assembly elections in the Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting held on Thursday under the leadership of party president Sonia Gandhi. Let us inform that the Election Commission has announced the dates of elections in five states including Punjab and all the 117 seats of the Legislative Assembly in Punjab will go to polls in a single phase on February 14. The counting of votes will be done on March 10.
