Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced a new vehicle scrapage policy in Gujarat. At the investor summit held at the time of the announcement of the policy, seven companies, including Tata Motors and Mahindra Re-Cycling, had signed MoUs for vehicle recycling. Of these, 6 MOUs were signed with the Government of Gujarat while one agreement was signed with the Government of Assam.

- More than 3 lakh vehicles will be recycled annually in Gujarat
Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister MK Das said that under the agreement signed by 6 companies with the Gujarat government, the state will have the capacity to recycle more than 3 lakh vehicles annually in the coming days. It will also provide employment to an estimated 5,000 people. Gujarat is an excellent place to invest as Gujarat has various facilities like roads, roads, water, electricity, gas, railways, transport.
- Tata Motors will set up a scraping center in Ahmedabad
“As part of the investment promotion activity, we have entered into an agreement with the Gujarat government to set up a vehicle scrapping facility in Ahmedabad,” said Girish Vagh, Executive Director, Tata Motors and President, Commercial Business. The scrap center will be able to recycle 36000 passenger and commercial vehicles annually. The scrapage policy is a welcome step and a step in the right direction to promote safe and clean vehicles in India. - Strong ecosystem of scrap and recycling of vehicles in the state
Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said that the second largest ship recycling yard in the world is also functioning at Alang where scrap and recycling facilities of vehicles are already available and there is a complete ecosystem for this. The Department of Transport will play a leading role in the successful implementation of this policy as Gujarat seeks to take advantage of the existing ecosystem and attract investment to develop and set up registered vehicle scrapping facilities and automated fitness centers. Due to today’s event, Gujarat will also become the leading state in India in the implementation of vehicle skipping policy.
- Gujarat will wait for the country to scrap vehicles
Vijay Rupani said that Gujarat is the largest automobile hub in India which has resulted in many big companies like Tata, Ford, Honda, Suzuki and many other big manufacturing companies in Gujarat. The growing development of the state has resulted in a huge increase in the presence of large automotive manufacturers as well as the number of vehicles registered in the state. For this, our government will definitely come forward and wait for the country.
