A case of love-jihad has come up in Dindoli area of Surat city. The young man assumed the Hindu name Mukesh and married a Hindu girl. When the wife found out that her husband was a Muslim, she forced him to pray and wear a burqa. The girl refused and hit him. So the case reached the police station. Mukesh’s name is Mohammad Akhtar Samatali Sheikh and he is married and the father of four children, police said.
- A young woman working as a telecaller came in contact
Abhijit Singh Parmar (ACP Surat Police) said that 22-year-old Amita (name has been changed) from Dindoli area was working as a telecaller in a mobile company in Godadra three years ago. At that time a young man came to change the SIM card. He said his name was Mukesh Mahavir Gupta. When Amita asked Mukesh to bring new customers, Mukesh brought 10 to 15 customers. So there was a friendship between Amita and Mukesh. Friendship led to love.
- Trapped the girl in the name of working in the railways
Mukesh said he works in the railways. The two decided to get married. Mukesh was 49 years old and said to be unmarried. Amita was 19 years old. Amita told Mukesh, “Your parents will not let you go because you are older.” So Mukesh explained that if he talks about a job in the railways, his parents will agree.

In 2019, Mukesh married Amita in a Hindu ceremony at the Hanuman Temple in Kadodora. Dindoli then lived in the area. They had a son in their offspring. 3 months ago, a photo of Mukesh’s Aadhaar card was found in Amita’s hand. Among them was Mohammad Akhtar Samatali Sheikh (Res. Chhatrapati Shivaji Nagar, Khanpura Limbayat). So Amita was shocked.

Asked by Mukesh, Amita said that Islam is the holiest religion. You are my wife so you should convert to Islam, he said, forcing me to pray at home. He was also forced to wear a veil. Abhijeet Singh Parmar (ACP Surat Police) further said that an offense has been registered against the accused Mohammad under the Love-Jihad Act. A fraud clause has also been added. The accused is currently being detained and further interrogation is underway.
