An incident of murder in Maharashtra has shaken the state. In Goigaon of Vaijapur tehsil of Aurangabad district, a pregnant girl was brutally beheaded by her mother and brother. The murder which took place on Sunday has created a stir in the area.
Going against her parents and family, this girl ran away with her lover and got married. This angered his family members.
The shocking thing is that the girl was two months pregnant at the time of the murder, which both her mother and brother knew.
After this incident, the mother and brother went to the police station and surrendered. Along with this, he confessed his crime in front of the police. The police arrested both of them and issued a statement giving information about the whole incident.
- The girl had run away and married in her own village.
The girl’s name was Kirti alias Kishori Mote. Both she and her husband Avinash Thore were residents of Goigaon. The population of this village is about 500. Avinash lived in a farmhouse in Ladgaon Shivra, about 2-3 km from his village.
Kishori Mote and Avinash both studied in the same college. Both fell in love with each other during college. However, the family members of the teenager were opposing the relationship between the two.
Local journalist Prashant Tribhuvan told the BBC that the main reason for opposing this relationship was the difference in the social status of the family or the economic status of the two families. For this reason, the family members of the girl opposed the relationship between the two.
But Avinash and Kishori stuck to their decision, so they decided to get married despite the opposition of the fat family.
About six months back in June of this year, both of them ran away from their homes. After that both got married in Alandi.
After marriage, Avinash returned to his village by making the teenager his wife. Since then, the teenager was living in her husband’s farmhouse in Ladgaon.
During this time he did not have much contact with his maternal family. However, a week before the incident, Shobha Mote, the mother of the deceased had gone to meet him. She went away after meeting her daughter and drinking tea and water.
- brutally murdered by beheading
According to the police, about a week later, on Sunday, December 5, the girl’s mother Shobha and brother Sanjay Mote reached her home in the farmhouse to meet her. At that time the girl was doing weeding work in her fields. It is said that when she saw that her mother and brother had come, she happily ran towards the house.
The girl went to her kitchen to make tea after drinking water to both of them. At the same time his mother and brother brutally murdered the girl. Brother Sanjay Mote slashed his sister Kishori’s neck with a sharp weapon and severed her head from the body.
After that, Sanjay took out the severed head and started showing it to the people present there. After that both of them left from there keeping the severed head in the compound of the house. From there both went by bike. Later it was found that both of them reached the police station themselves after executing the incident.
The deceased teenager was pregnant of two months. According to the police, his mother was aware of this. Despite this, both of them killed the girl without thinking.
The police said in their press note that during this incident her mother Shobha Mote had held her daughter Kishori’s feet.
Many people are surprised by the involvement of the mother in this incident. Social activist Mangala Khivansara tried to analyze the incident. He said, “It is possible that the mother supported her son because she was bound by a false sense of duty towards him.”
Meanwhile, the police have arrested both the accused and registered a case against them.
- Women are becoming victims of false pride
In this regard, senior social worker Mangal Khiwansara said that social prestige in our society is determined by many things, which are imposed on women.
“Women are victims of such false social prestige because of our society being male dominated,” he said.
According to him, it starts with the family. The head of the family is a man, due to which there is a constant attempt to oppress women. Along with this, the entire burden of maintaining social prestige is put on women.
Despite the difference in gender in the Indian Constitution, men and women have been given equal rights. Such cases can be prevented only when equality between the two is implemented properly in every household.
According to Mangal Khivansara, otherwise women will continue to be killed because of the false pride of the family.
Meanwhile, efforts were made to contact both the families related to this matter but without success.
