Team India’s batting proved to be a complete flop. The entire team of the hosts could play 26 overs and got all out for 117 runs. After this, Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head achieved the target in 11 overs. Both scored half-centuries and returned unbeaten.
- Marsh made runs in a hurry
Chasing the target of 118 runs, Australian openers Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head made a strong start. Only 2 runs were scored in the first over of Pacer Shami. In the next over of Siraj, Travis Head hit two consecutive fours. Then Marsh opened his hands and hit two consecutive fours in Shami’s over. Marsh then hit 2 sixes and a four in the 5th over of Shami’s innings. Head targeted Siraj and spoiled his line-length by hitting 4 consecutive fours in his sixth over. A total of 18 runs were scored in Hardik Pandya’s first (8th innings) over. Marsh hit 3 sixes in this over. He completed his half-century off 28 balls with a six. Marsh gave the team victory by hitting a four in Akshar Patel’s over. He scored an unbeaten 66 off 36 balls while Head scored an unbeaten 51 off 30 balls.

Earlier, the Indian team was all out for just 117 runs. The Indian batsmen proved to be a flop and could play only 26 overs. Pacer Mitchell Starc performed amazingly and took maximum 5 wickets. This is India’s fourth lowest score at home in ODI format. Apart from this, it is the third lowest score in ODIs against Australia. Starc, who took three wickets in the last match, took 5 wickets for 53 runs in this match, out of which four were taken in the first spell itself. Sean Abbott took 3 for 23 while Nathan Ellis took 2 for 13.

No Indian batsman could face the Australian bowlers. Only 4 batsmen of Team India could touch the figure of ten. Virat Kohli scored the most runs. He hit 31 runs in 35 balls with the help of 4 fours. Apart from him, Akshar Patel scored 29 not out. He faced 29 balls and hit one four, 2 sixes. Captain Rohit Sharma scored 13 while Ravindra Jadeja scored 16 off 39 balls. Stark dismissed Shubman Gill (0), captain Rohit Sharma (13), Suryakumar Yadav (0) and KL Rahul (9) in the first spell. He then bowled Siraj and wrapped up India’s innings.

The start of the Indian team was bad for the second consecutive match. Stark wreaked havoc in the first five overs. After dismissing Gill without opening the account in the first over, he also broke the partnership of Kohli and Rohit. Rohit’s catch was caught by Steve Smith in the slip. Surya was out lbw on the next ball, who was also dismissed on the first ball in the previous match. The hero of the last match, KL Rahul was out lbw after scoring 9 runs. Hardik Pandya (1) caught Smith on the first ball of Abbott’s 10th over. Kohli and Jadeja shared a 22-run partnership for the sixth over.
