Pakistan has completed 10 years since the launch of China’s ambitious China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects, boosting regional connectivity in the South Asian country.
On the occasion of completion of 10 years of the beginning of the CPEC project, a program named ‘A Decade of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC)’ was organized in Islamabad on Monday.
Xi said the USD 60 billion CPEC infrastructure program is an “important flagship project” of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

Pakistan and China on Monday signed six important documents to enhance cooperation and speed up work under the ambitious China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Vice Premier of China He Leifang were present during the signing ceremony to mark the completion of 10 years of CPEC. CPEC includes several under-construction infrastructure and other projects that have been underway since 2013 across Pakistan.
These agreements pertain to establishment of an expert exchange mechanism, export of dry chillies to China, highway projects and industrial labor exchange programme.
Sharif said on the occasion that the purpose of the signed documents was to further strengthen the economic ties between Pakistan and China. He said that so far more than US$ 25 billion has been invested under CPEC in Pakistan’s power and hydropower sectors, road infrastructure and public transport.
