Police have recovered a consignment of weapons from near the International Border in Jammu and it is believed that this consignment was dropped by a drone of Pakistan.
Jammu: Police have recovered a consignment of weapons from near the International Border in Jammu and it is believed that this consignment of weapons was dropped by a drone of Pakistan. Officials said an AK assault rifle, three magazines, 30 bullets and a telescope were found in the packet dropped from the drone.
He said that this consignment was recovered from Saujan village of Pahalen Mandal near the International Border late on Saturday night. A villager had informed the police about some kind of noise and suspiciously falling goods from Pakistani drone.
Officials said that the police immediately cordoned off the village and launched a search operation. During the search operation he found a yellow colored packet tied with wire from which arms and ammunition were recovered. A case has been registered in this regard and efforts are being made to trace the people who were supposed to come to collect the consignment.
In the last one year, there has been an increase in drone activities from Pakistan side, which has become a major challenge for the security forces guarding the border.
Security forces have shot down two drones at different places in the last one year and recovered a huge cache of weapons including rifles, explosives, bombs and narcotics. Security at the border has been further tightened after two drones dropped two bombs at an Indian Air Force station in Jammu in June this year.
