Arpita Mukherjee News: Arpita Mukherjee confessed to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday that she was coerced after two successive seizures of huge amounts of cash and gold from her two residences in Kolkata’s Tollygunge and Belgharia. West Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee had asked their houses to be allowed to be used for keeping illegal cash. According to ED sources, Mukherjee also admitted that the cash recovered from his residence was kept there by Chatterjee with the help of one of his unidentified associates.

An ED official said, Arpita has confessed that Chatterjee used to visit both her Tollygunge and Belgharia residences once or twice a week and was accompanied by an unidentified person. The official confirmed, Chatterjee had given strict instructions to Arpita not to open the cupboards and to avoid repeated visits to the rooms from where the cash was recovered.
It is learned that whenever Chatterjee used to visit Arpita Mukherjee’s residence, the minister used to hold a closed-door meeting with an unidentified person. Arpita was not allowed to participate in it. An ED official said, Arpita was in tears while giving her statement and was constantly claiming that she was exploited. Now we have to reach out to the unknown person who was supporting Chatterjee. Only Partha Chatterjee can answer who he is.
Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress leadership is under immense pressure from within the party to relieve Partha Chatterjee from his ministerial and party posts with immediate effect. In a tweet, Trinamool Congress state general secretary and party spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said, “Parth Chatterjee should be immediately removed from all cabinet and party posts.” They should be expelled. If this statement of mine is wrong, then the party has every right to remove me from all posts.
Without naming the minister, Trinamool Congress youth leader Debangshu Bhattacharya said in a social media post that it would be better to drain the abscess to give relief to the body.
