Seeing the increasing demand for adventure bikes in the market, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has recently launched its new Urban Explorer, the Honda CB200X, which we drove on the streets of Navi Mumbai. Rainy weather, CB200X in hand and roads full of water. This was the time where we could get to test the Honda CB200X better.
- bike design
The looks of the CB200X have been taken from Honda’s big bikes Africa Twin and CB200X. The new Honda CB200X looks quite heavy with a diamond type frame. The front look of the bike looks great. Like the Honda Hornet 2.0, X-shaped LED lights are available on both the front and rear. Most notably, the LED indicator lights along with the knuckle guards on the handle of the bike make the CB200X a premium with off-roading look. The rear view mirrors also look great and golden upside down front forks are found at the bottom.
Looking from the side, the bike gets Y-shaped alloy wheels which are taken from the same Hornet 2.0. The front gets 276 mm disc brakes with 110/70-17 inch tires and 220 mm disc brakes with 140/70-17 inch tires at the rear.
- Every information on digital meter
The fuel tank gives a powerful look and the graphics of the CB200X make it a drag on its side. The company has given monoshock in the rear. There is a place to put the key on the tank of the bike itself. The switches found in the handlebar also look very premium quality, in which you also get the engine stop switch and hazard light switch on the right side. Talking about the instrument cluster, there is a fully digital liquid crystal meter, in which you get all the information you need. However, it would have been better if the company had given more options for inbuilt navigation and Bluetooth here.
- split seats
Apart from this, split seats are available for sporty feel. Honda CB200X measures 2035 mm in length, 843 mm in width, 1248 mm in height and 1355 mm in wheelbase. Talking about the riding position, the upright riding position is available. There is a seat height of 810 mm, so people with 5.4 feet height can also drive it easily. If there are flat handlebars, then you will not give much trouble during the ride.
- 184.4cc single cylinder engine
Talking about power specifications, the company has given the same engine in it which is Hornet 2.0. A 184.4cc single cylinder engine is available which generates 17 bhp power at 8,500 rpm and 16.1 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm.
- Won’t get tired on long rides
The specialty of CB200X is its ride performance, due to which you will love to ride this bike all day. If Honda has an engine, then refinement is seen at the top level. Very good torque is available even at low rpm and it does not hold back from giving sporty power at high rpm. Do not feel tired at all during long rides. It is easy to maneuver, makes this bike very easy to drive during traffic and city rides. It can cruise all day on the highway at 6 to 7 thousand rpm.
The flamboyant and fun experience in the scorching rain of Mumbai took the CB200X a level further. However, the suspension disappointed a bit as even small potholes felt big at high speed. The company needed to keep the suspension a bit soft. However, the Tough Tread Pattern tires made me very happy. Their grip is very good. With the help of these tires, you can also do some off-roading. The riding position is quite comfortable, so you remain confident while riding this bike.
- double disc
Talking about braking, the company has given double disc brakes, but only single channel ABS is available. The company could have given dual channel ABS here, but there is no problem in braking. Overall, this bike is quite powerful and comfortable even for daily running or long-term rides on weekends.
- cost
The price of Honda CB200X is Rs 1,44,500, which is about Rs 14 thousand more expensive than the Hornet 2.0 and about Rs 26 thousand more than the Hero Xpulse 200T in the same segment. Well, Honda’s engine is quite refined and comfortable to drive. If seen, this bike is for those people who want the fun of a big bike with a small engine.
