New Delhi: Indian Railways: North Western Railway has set a new record. North Western Railway has topped the Indian Railways by loading 13.36 million tonnes in the financial year 2021-22 up to the month of September, registering an increase of more than 56% from 8.53 million tonnes in the corresponding period last year.
Cement, clinker, food grains, petroleum, containers and other major commodities are transported on North Western Railway. Apart from this, North Western Railway has achieved punctuality of 98.66% in this financial year till September, which is the highest among all the railways.

In fact, North Western Railway has achieved 98.66% punctuality of Mail/Express till September, which is the highest among all the Indian Railways. In the same period of last year also, North Western Railway stood first in punctuality. According to Lt. Shashi Kiran, this achievement of North Western Railway has been possible due to the efficient guidance of General Manager Vijay Sharma and guidance of Principal Chief Operations Manager Ravindra Goyal.
As a part of efforts to increase loading earnings on North Western Railway, loading of new items has been started at Khemli, Bangar Village, Anupgarh, Alwar, Gotan, Kanakpura, Theyat Humira, Bhagat Ki Kothi, Gotan stations. North Western Railway has achieved this feat by improving its all-round capability and performance.
- Highest increase of more than 56 percent
According to Lieutenant Shashi Kiran, Chief Public Relations Officer of North Western Railway, in the current financial year 2021-22, the initial loading of 13.36 million tonnes till September has earned a revenue of 1541.69 crores, which is more than 8.5 metric tonnes in the same period of 2020-21. The revenue received is 56.62 percent more in freight and 54.26 percent in revenue, respectively, from 999.4 crore.
It is worth noting that in view of the performance of North Western Railway’s freight loading last year, the Railway Board has set a target of more loading this year. North Western Railway loaded 22.24 million tonnes of goods in the year 2020-21 and Railway Board has set a target of 26.50 million tonnes in this financial year.
