Team India: Indian opener KL Rahul is currently running out of Team India. He was not given a chance in the last two matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series. It seems that Rahul will not be able to be a part of the Test team even further. A 23 year old batsman is the reason behind this.
India vs Australia, KL Rahul Career Stats: The fourth match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test Series is being played between India and Australia at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. This match is very important for Team India because after winning it, it will get the ticket for the final of the World Test Championship (WTC Final). After three days of play, however, the Indian team is far behind the visitors on the basis of first innings.
- Rahul was dropped from 2 consecutive tests
Captain Rohit Sharma gave opener Rahul a chance in the opening two matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series against Australia but he could not do much. Questions started arising on him. When the BCCI announced Team India for the remaining two Test matches, the vice-captain was removed from behind Rahul’s name. Then in the third and fourth Test matches, Rahul was kept out of the team.
- Gill lived up to Rohit’s trust
23-year-old opener Shubman Gill was included in the team in place of KL Rahul. Gill also lived up to the trust of captain Rohit and hit 128 runs in the first innings of the Ahmedabad Test. Gill hit 12 fours and a six in his restrained innings of 235 balls. Looking at the form in which Gill is frying, it seems that he will be made a part of the upcoming Test matches as well. Even if the Indian team plays the final of the World Test Championship, Gill’s claim seems strong. In such a situation, Rahul is finding it very difficult to get a chance in the Test team again.
- India still 191 runs behind
Three days of play has been completed in the fourth Test match of the ongoing series at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. India scored 289 runs for 3 wickets till the end of the third day’s play. At present, Australia has a lead of 191 runs on the basis of first innings. At the time of stumps, former captain Virat Kohli was on 59 and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was at the crease after scoring 16 runs.
