New Delhi / Chandigarh: Prime Minister Narendra Modi (Narendra Modi) is reaching Ferozepur in Punjab today (December 5) ahead of the Legislative Assembly elections to be held in Punjab this year. During this, PM Modi will give a gift of 42 thousand 750 crores to Punjab and will also address the public meeting. Apart from this, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone of Mukerian-Talwara Broad Gauge Rail Line.

The cost of the Mukerian-Talwara Broad Gauge Rail Line project is estimated to be Rs 411.76 crore. The total length of the new broad gauge rail line project is 27.70 km. - Alternate Routes for Jammu and Kashmir
The rail project that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to inaugurate today in Punjab will also work through an alternate route to Jammu and Kashmir. Apart from this, this line is also very important strategically. It will act as an alternate route to Jammu and Kashmir connecting to the existing Jalandhar-Jammu railway line at Mukerian.
- Extension of Nangal Dam-Daulatpur Chowk Rail Section
Indian Railways is building a new broad gauge rail line between Talwara-Mukerian. The new rail line will be an extension of Nangal Dam-Daulatpur Chowk rail section. The existing 60 km long Nangal Dam-Amb Andaura-Daulatpur Chowk section was commissioned in January 2019. Passengers and goods trains are already running on this route.
- Rail line is important for tourist places
The project is important for major tourist destinations and pilgrimage sites in the region. Mata Chintpurni Devi Temple is only 10 km away from Chintpurni Marg station. Jwalaji Devi is located 55 kms from Daulatpur Chowk, Kangraji is 78 kms from Daulatpur Chowk and Palampur is located at 111 kms, which will reduce the distance in this area.
The construction of a connecting line up to Mukerian will help in furthering the economic activities of the region. The famous hill stations of Palampur, Dharamsala and McLeodganj are very close to Talwara and 70 km from Mukerian is Ranjit Sagar Dam, which can be developed as a hub for water sports and adventure activities.
