BJP candidate Priyanka Tibriwal, who is contesting against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in the Bhawanipur Legislative Assembly by-election of West Bengal, has accused TMC of stopping voting by switching off EVM machines. Priyanka Tibriwal said, ‘Madan Mitra has locked the machines to capture the booth of ward number 72 so that the voters come and go.’

tight security arrangements
97 polling stations have been set up for voting in Bhawanipur Vidhan Sabha constituency. Central force personnel will take charge of the security at the polling place. 15 companies of central forces have been deployed in Bhawanipur Vidhan Sabha constituency. The security outside the polling booth will be commanded by the policemen of Kolkata Police. Section 144 has been imposed within 200 meters of each booth and gathering of five or more people will not be allowed.
