
The state government on Thursday announced that the Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra will be taken out in Ahmedabad amid curfew and devotees will be asked to watch its live telecast on television.
Ahead of the 144th Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra in Ahmedabad on July 12, the city police on Friday announced the route for a 19-km-long yatra procession and traffic diversion for the public that day.

According to a traffic notification order issued by Ahmedabad city police commissioner Sanjay Srivastava on Friday, all vehicles in areas falling under Gaikwad Haveli, Khadia, Kalupur, Shahar Kotra, Madhupur, Dariyapur, Shahpur and Karanj police stations will be allowed to operate from 6 am onwards. Movement will be restricted. Until 2 pm on 12th July. Curfew under Section 144 of CrPC will be implemented in the areas falling under these eight police stations on the morning of July 12.
Entry will be restricted from Sardar Bridge Phool Bazar to Jamalpur Cross Road, ST Circle, Astodia Darwaza, Sarangpur Circle, Potalia Crossroads, Nirmalpura Crossroads, Memco Cross Road, Trisection under Amdupura Bridge, Idgah Circle, Prem Darwaza, Delhi. Darwaza, Rahat Circle, Gandhi Bridge, Nehru Bridge, Rupali Cinema Tri Section, Ellis Bridge Victoria Garden area during Curfew Hours (sic),” read the order by Srivastava.
“The divert route is that the traffic from Naroda to Memco Cross Road can use the left cut to access the road to go to Bapunagar, Rakhial and Amraiwadi. Traffic coming from Soni Ni Chali to Rakhial Cross Road to go to Memco but can use right cut. and left cut to go to Gomtipur, Maninagar and Danilimda. Similarly, traffic going from Narol to Danilimda can use Ambedkar bridge to go to Ashram road. Vehicles on Ashram road are riverfront west road Can use Subhash Bridge to go to Shahibagh, Daphnala and cross roads to go to the airport (sic).”
Meanwhile, State Home Minister Pradeepsinh Jadeja on Friday announced the 19-km Rath Yatra route on July 12.
The Rath Yatra procession carrying the idols of Lord Jagannath, Lord Baldev and Goddess Subhadra on the morning of 12th July will cover a distance of 19 kms from Jamalpur Darwaza to Nagar Kotha, Raipur Chakla, Khadia Cross Road, Kalupur Circle to Saraspur at 7 am. Then some After rest, the procession from Kalupur circle to Prem Darwaza to Delhi Chakla to Shahpur Darwaza to RC High School from Pankornka to Manek Chowk will return to the temple around 12 noon.
On Friday, Jadeja along with senior police officials took stock of the police’s preparedness before the procession and also discussed with the trustees of the temple.
“The state government is committed to ensure peace, safety and security during the 144th Rath Yatra procession on July 12. Only 20 Khalasis will be present to move each chariot after the mandatory RT PCR test. This year, we used it. Technology in the form of a mini control room has been installed in all the eight police stations enroute the Yatra. The entire Yatra will be monitored with CCTV surveillance and mobile vans equipped with CCTV cameras will also be on the route.
Meanwhile, the office of Gujarat Director General of Police Ashish Bhatia also issued a statement on Friday saying, “Senior police officers across the state have been asked to ensure that there is no crowd of people in the Rath Yatra processions and in this regard. to be consulted in advance.
