New Delhi: Even though the profession of Kavitha Ramu, who became an IAS officer after passing the UPSC exam, is administrative service, but her passion is Bharatanatyam. Whenever Kavita starts dancing on the stage by tying a ghungroo to her feet, people get stunned. Along with being an IAS officer, Kavita Ramu has become recognized as a famous Bharatnatyam dancer of the country.

Kavitha Ramu is an IAS officer of Tamil Nadu cadre and has performed more than 600 stages in the country and abroad so far. Many awards have also been received for the performance of Kavita Ramu on stage. Apart from this, she has also worked in many important positions in the administrative service. She has been a Revenue Divisional Officer in Vellore and has worked as Assistant Commissioner Civil Supplies in Chennai. Apart from this, she has also held the post of General Manager of Tamil Nadu State Tourism Development Corporation.
- It’s not easy finding time to dance with Duty
It is not easy for Kavitha Ramu to find time for Bharatnatyam along with administrative service and he has to be very careful about his time management. Kavita tells that she wakes up at five in the morning and starts her day by doing yoga. After this, she leaves for office at 9 o’clock, from where she is able to come back only by 8 o’clock in the night. When she gets free time from her job, she practices Bharatnatyam.
- Mother taught Kavita Bharatnatyam
According to the report of The Better India, Kavitha Ramu, born in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, started learning Bharatnatyam at the age of just four. His mother Manimegali started teaching him dance. At the behest of her mother, Kavita started learning dance from the famous dance of Madurai, Neela Krishnamurthy. In 1981, at the age of eight, Kavita performed at the fifth World Tamil Conference held in the city of Chidambaram and won hearts with her stellar performance.
- IAS became influenced by father
Kavitha Ramu’s father M Ramu was an IAS officer. Kavita was very much influenced by her father and wanted to become an IAS like her father. After the support of family members, Kavita started preparing for UPSC exam. In the year 1999, he was selected in the Tamil Nadu State Civil Services, although he continued to prepare for the UPSC exam. In the year 2002, Kavita got the biggest happiness of her life and she got selected as an IAS after her success in the Civil Services Examination of the Union Public Service Commission.
