Congress leader P Chidambaram on Tuesday said that only Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has the courage to raise his voice in the Modi government. Chidambaram made this remark on Gadkari’s statement on petrol and diesel prices. Chidambaram said that Gadkari has courage, so he should raise his voice in the cabinet as well. In fact, Gadkari had recently acknowledged the anger among the people due to the rising prices of petrol and diesel in a program.
What did Gadkari say?
According to reports, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Gadkari on Monday inaugurated the country’s first commercial Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) filling station in Nagpur and said that more use of alternative fuels such as LNG, CNG and ethanol will lead to increased use of petrol. There will be relief from rising prices, due to which people are upset and agitating.
Chidambaram reacted
When asked about his remarks, Chidambaram said, “Everyone in the country knows that all decisions in this government are taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Then it doesn’t matter who is the finance minister and who is not. The Prime Minister himself is the Finance Minister, the Defense Minister, the External Affairs Minister, the Sports Minister. He is everything.’ He said that I believe that only Gadkari has the courage to raise his voice from time to time, but these days he is also silent. They should raise their voice. He should raise his voice in the cabinet.
Even before Gadkari’s statements, the central government had to face an uncomfortable situation.
Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari is known for his outspokenness. Many times the central government has come in an uncomfortable position due to his statement. Recently, in a public program regarding the lack of vaccine, he suggested that more companies in the country should be given license to make corona vaccine and those companies should pay royalty in return. After his statement, the central government had to face an uncomfortable situation.
Opposition parties, including the Congress, had said that instead of making such statements in public forums, why does Gadkari not give such suggestions in the cabinet meeting. Chidambaram’s latest statement is believed to be an attempt to surround the central government through the statement of his minister on the issue of inflation.
Recently, Nitin Gadkari has been taken over the charge of the Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) after a major change in the Union Cabinet by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Now this ministry has been given to BJP leader and former Chief Minister Narayan Rane from Maharashtra itself. People had also raised questions on social media over Gadkari’s decision to take charge of the MSME ministry.
