Delhi: Sweeper arrested in 87-year-old woman’s rape case, solved this way in 15 hours
Old women raped in Delhi: According to the police, an FIR was registered after receiving a written complaint from the daughter of a senior citizen about mobile theft from a house in Tilak Nagar. The complainant said on Monday that the senior citizen was allegedly raped in the house where the theft took place.

New Delhi: Delhi Police has arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly raping an 87-year-old woman at her residence in Tilak Nagar area of the national capital. Police said that they have also recovered a stolen mobile phone from the accused, who has been identified as Ankit.

Delhi Police’s Additional DCP (West) Prashant Gautam said that he lived in a nearby area and worked as a sweeper. The officer said that soon after the incident several teams were formed to nab the accused. When the police examined the surrounding CCTV footage, they got the first clue about the accused.

The police say that their team uncovered the matter within 16 hours after locating the accused. The police on Monday constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the alleged rape incident in West Delhi.
According to the police, initially on Sunday, a written complaint was received from the daughter of a senior citizen about the theft of a mobile phone from a house in Tilak Nagar, after which an FIR was registered. However, the complainant said on Monday that a senior citizen was allegedly raped in the house where the theft took place.
