Ravi Teja-Rana Daggubati, 2017 drug case prosecuted
- Rakul will be questioned on September 6, Rana Daggubati on September 8 and Ravi Teja on September 9.
The ED (Enforcement Directorate) has summoned 10 actors, including actress Rakul Preet Singh, Charmi Kaur, Ravi Teja-Rana Daggubati, for questioning in the four-year-old Tollywood drugs case in Hyderabad. It may be mentioned that the team of Narcotics Control Bureau, which is investigating the Sushant death case of Rakul Preet Singh in Drugs Angle, was also questioned. However, Rakul has not been charged in the case.
According to sources, Rakul has been summoned to the ED’s office in Hyderabad on September 6, Rana Daggubati on September 8 and Ravi Teja on September 9. The ED has summoned Tollywood’s top director Puri Jagannath on August 31. Apart from this, Ravi Teja’s driver Srinivasa and F Club’s GM (General Manager) have also been called for questioning. He has been asked to attend from 2 to 22 September.
- Clean chit officers will also be questioned
The ED will also question the excise department officials investigating the case. Surprisingly, the Excise Special Investigation Team (SIT) did not take action against the Tollywood actors due to lack of evidence. However, all were questioned. The excise department did not file a charge sheet against him, indirectly giving him a clean chit.
- The excise department has filed charge sheets in 11 cases
In 2017, the Telangana Excise and Prohibition Department filed 11 cases after seizing drugs worth Rs 30 lakh. Several drug peddlers were arrested in the case, with charge sheets filed in 11 cases. A total of 8 people were charged in the case, most of them delivery boys who were drug dealers. After receiving information about illegal money transactions, the ED entered and a case of money laundering was filed.
- Hair and nail samples were taken from 62 people
The SIT, which is investigating the case, collected hair and nail samples from 62 suspects, including Tollywood celebrities, in July 2017, but the SIT did not provide any information on the case. A charge sheet was filed against Rafe Alex Wickett, a South African national, for smuggling cocaine from Mumbai to Hyderabad and selling it in Hyderabad. Raphael was arrested in August 2017.
