Iran has summoned the ambassadors of both the countries. A photo was posted from the Twitter handle of the Russian Embassy. This photo was in memory of a historic meeting of the Allied countries in the Second World War.
The picture of Russian Ambassador Levan Zagaryan and British Ambassador Simon Shercliffe was posted on August 11 from the official Twitter handle of the Russian Embassy in Iran.
The picture was accompanied by the caption, “Ambassador Levan and the head of the British diplomatic mission Simone on the Historic Staircase. It was here in 1943 that the historic Tehran Conference was held.
It was here in 1943 that the Allied leaders Stalin, Churchill and Franklin D. Roosevelt met during the Second World War. There is also a picture of the meeting of these three. At that time Iran was occupied by Russia and Britain. At the Tehran conference itself, the Allies had agreed to invade Normandy on a second front.
