West Bengal Bypoll Counting: Counting of votes for the Assembly bypolls held in West Bengal is going on. Voting was held on 30 September in three assembly seats of West Bengal, Bhawanipur, Jangipur and Shamsherganj. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is in the fray on behalf of Trinamool Congress (TMC) in Bhawanipur Legislative Assembly seat. On the other hand, BJP has fielded Priyanka Tibrewal against him. To remain the Chief Minister of West Bengal, it is necessary for Mamata Banerjee to win the Bhawanipur seat today.

Let us tell you that to remain the CM of West Bengal, Mamta Banerjee will have to become a member of the Legislative Assembly of the state before November 5. Otherwise he will have to leave his post. According to Article 164(4) of the Constitution, if a person is not a member of the Legislative Assembly and becomes the Chief Minister, then he has to become a member of the Legislative Assembly or Legislative Council of the state within 6 months. West Bengal does not have a Legislative Council, so Mamata Banerjee will have to become a member of the Legislative Assembly.
