Unauthorized aircraft (UAVs) were seen flying inside the Kaluchak military base in Jammu last night. Alert Army jawans fired drones to disable them.
Two drones were spotted at the Kaluchak military base in Jammu on the fateful night of June 27-28. One unlicensed Aerial Vehicle (UAV) vehicle was seen flying inside the Military base at 11.45pm and another at 2.40am. Alert Army jawans fired drones to disable them.
Two quadkopters were spotted on the edge of the Kaluchak-Purmandal road on the Jammu Pathankot national highway. The items were allegedly flying near the Kalucheck military base, police told India Today.
Military personnel fired about 20-25 drones before fleeing in the dark. A major search is still underway inside the Kaluchak military base to find two drones.
A major warning was issued in the Jammu area, especially at military bases.
The incident comes a day after a drone strike at Jammu Airport. In the first friendly attack, drones were used to drop explosives at the top security area of Jammu airport. Two explosions occurred Sunday morning; one burst through a hole in the roof of the building, and the other exploded in the ground in the open.
Jammu and Kashmir police and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) are investigating a terrorist strike.
Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the case. IAF Chief Minister Marshal RKS Bhadauria, who is in Bangladesh on an official visit, is constantly monitoring the situation in Jammu.
