New Delhi: The Delhi unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday protested outside the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi against the demolition of the statue of Maharaja Ranjit Singh in Pakistan. Let us tell you that in the 19th century, the statue of Maharaja Ranjit Singh was demolished in Lahore, Pakistan.

 BJP workers said, ‘Yesterday (Tuesday) the way the statue of Maharaja Ranjit Singh was vandalized in Pakistan under Talibani mentality, then we want to say that the people of India and BJP will not tolerate it. We demand that immediate action should be taken against the culprits and the organization which has done this should be banned.

 India strongly condemned the demolition of the statue of Maharaja Ranjit Singh in Lahore Fort, saying that Pakistan has failed to fulfill its responsibilities and is creating an atmosphere of fear among the minority communities. Foreign Ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi said that attacks on places of worship, cultural centers and private properties, including violence against minority communities in Pakistan, have risen to alarming levels.

 Referring to Pakistan’s poor record in protecting Hindus and Sikhs, BJP President JP Nadda said that the attack on the statue of Maharaja Ranjit Singh is condemnable.
